Pav Bhaji

Pav Bhaji

Ingredients:

1. Onion - 1
2. Tomato - 2
3. Capsicum -1
4. Potato - 1 ( Boiled)
5. Frozen Green peas - 1/2 cup
6. Jeera - 1tsp
7. Chilly- garlic paste - 1 tbsp
8. Pav Bahji Masala Powder - 1.5 tbsp
9. Chilly powder -1 tsp
10. Butter & Salt
11. Coriander leaves.

For Pav:

1. Pav Buns - 6
2. Butter

How to prepare:

Heat butter. When it melts, add the jeera. Then add the chilly-garlic paste and saute well. Add the chopped onions followed by chopped capsicums. Add the chopped tomatoes and saute well till it becomes mushy. Add the chilly powder and the pav bhaji masala powder. Saute well. Add the frozen green peas and the boiled potatoes and mix well. Mash it slightly. Cook for 10 minutes. Garnish it with coriander leaves.

For Pav:

Heat Butter. Slice the pav buns into two pieces.  Place the buns on the melted butter. Slightly toast it.

 Add the chopped capsicums                                                     Add the chopped tomato

 Add pav bhaji masala powder and chilly powder. Add the frozen green peas and salt

 Add the boiled potatoes. Mash it well. Cook till the gravy thickens. Add coriander leaves.

 Add butter.
Pav Bhaji is ready!!!!!

Puttu


Puttu

Ingredients:

1. Rice Flour - 1 cup ( I used Chemba puttu podi)
2. Grated Coconut - 1/2 cup
3. Cardamom Powder - 1 tbsp

How to Prepare:

Wet the rice flour with little water and add cardamom powder and mix well. Take a puttu maker and add coconut grating at the bottom and add little  rice flour and then again add coconut gratings and rice flour. Fill again the top with the coconut grating. Steam it for 10 minutes. Serve hot with papad, banana and kadala curry.

Pictorial:

Steam it for 10 minutes

Serve with Banana, Papad and Kadala Curry

Ela Ada


Ela Ada

 


Ingredients:

1. Rice flour  - 1 cup
2. Jaggery - 3/4 cup
3. Grated coconut - 1/2 cup
4. Cardamom Powder - 1 tbsp
5. Salt - little
6. Banana leaves - cut into small pieces

How to Prepare:

Take the rice flour in a bowl and add hot water and make a dough. Keep it aside. In a pan add 1 tbsp of water and add the jaggery pieces and melt it down and lastly add the grated coconut and mix it well. Take a banana leaf and spread the rice dough evenly over the leaf and spread the jaggery-coconut filling on the top of the dough. Fold the banana leaf and steam it for 10-15 minutes. Ela Ada will be liked by all the kids and it is best evening snack to have it with tea.

Rava Dosa


Rava Dosa

Ingredients:

1. Rice flour - 2 cups
2. Rava - 3/4 cup
3. Maida - 3 tbsps
4. Green Chilly - 1
5. Black Pepper - 1 tbsp
6. Jeera - 1 tbsp
7. Buttermilk - 1 cup
8. Water & Salt

How to Prepare:

Take a bowl and mix all the above said ingredients and make a thin dosa batter. Heat a dosa pan and spread a little oil and pour a little batter from the corner of the pan to the middle and then fill in the gaps. Make it crispier both the sides. Serve hot with chutney and sambar.

Hummus


Hummus

Ingredients:

1. Chickpeas - 1 cup
2. Tahini - 1/2 cup
3. Lemon - 1
4. Olive oil - 3 tbsps
5. Garlic pods - 2

How to prepare:

Cook the chickpeas or you can use the chickpeas tin. Put the chickpeas, Tahini (click on it for the recipe), lemon juice, garlic pods and 2 tbsps of olive oil in a food processor and grind well until it becomes a fine smooth paste. Garnish it with the remaining olive oil and sprinke some cayenne pepper on the top.

Tahini

Tahini

Ingredients:


1. Sesame Seeds - 1 cup
2. Olive oil - 3 tbsps
3. Water - As required 

How to prepare:


Roast the sesame seeds. Grind the sesame seeds along with olive oil and add little water and make a fine paste. It is used for making hummus.

Ragi Vermicilli Upma

Vermicilli upma is a very common breakfast in chennai. But when I saw this ragi vemicilli packet, I just grabbed it and curious to know how it will taste. But believe me, it tasted very good and ragi is good for health. Basically I dont like ragi since it has a bland taste, but this upma version I liked it and it is very good for kids. You can add vegetables like carrot and peas also to this upma.

Ingredients:

1. Ragi vermicilli - 1 packet
2. Onion - 1
3.Tomato - 1
4. Green Chilly -1
5. Mustard seeds - 1 tsp
6. Oil & Salt 
7. Water - 1 cup (tea cup)
8. Coriander leaves - few

How to Prepare:

Roast the vermicilli and keep it aside. Heat oil in kadai. Add mustard seeds. Once it splutters, add the chopped onions, green chilly and saute well. Then add the chopped tomatoes and saute well. Add the vermicilli and salt and mix well. Add water and cook it covered in a low flame for 10 minutes. In between open the lid and stir well.
Garnish it with coriander leaves.
