Chole Masala


Chole Masala

 Chole Masala is a famous dish in North India specially in Punjab. It goes very well with Chapathi, Puri and Batura. In South India, it is cooked in a different form called Kadala curry (with or without coconut) and commonly served with puttu and appams.

 Ingredients:

1. Chickpeas - 1 cup
2. Onion - 3
3. Tomato - 3
4. Garlic - 3 pods
5. Green chilly - 1
6. Chilly Powder - 1 tbsp
7. Coriander Powder - 3/4 tbsp
8. Garam Masala - 1tsp
9. Pepper - 1 tbsp
8. Jeera - 1 tbsp
9. Turmeric powder - 1tsp

How to Prepare:

Soak the chickpeas overnight and boil it and keep it aside.Heat oil in kadai. Add pepper and jeera and fry. Then  add chopped onion (2 onions) and garlic along with salt and saute well. Add the chopped onions and saute. Once cooked well and becomes mushy, keep it aside and let it cool. Then grind it to a smooth paste. Heat oil in pan add the remaining chopped onion, green chilly and saute well. Add the chilly powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and the garam masala powder and saute it. Then add the cooked chickpeas and little water and cook it until the gravy becomes thick. Garnish it wih coriander leaves. Add lime juice for an enhanced flavour. Serve with rotis with sliced round onions.

Add the chopped tomatoes. Grind it to a smooth paste. Keep it aside. Heat oil and add the chopped onion and green chilly
Add all the spice powders                                             Saute it well


 Add the cooked Chickpeas                                           Add little water and cook


Cook till the gravy becomes thick

  Garnish it with coriander leaves and sliced onions!!!!!!
