Spinach Dal


SPINACH DAL

Normally I prepare the spinach dal with coconut which is called Mulakushyam in palakad districk of kerala.This time I was thinking to prepare without coconut and it really came out very well. This dal is very easy to make and it can be prepared within 15 minutes if the dal is cooked and ready. This dal goes well with rich and chapathi. 


Ingredients:

1. Onion - 1
2. Tomato - 2
3. Spinach - 2 bunch
4. Garlic - 3 pods
5. Green Chilly - 1
6. Masoor Dal or Toor Dal - 1 cup
7. Mustard - 1 tsp
8. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp


How to Prepare:

Boil the masoor dal and keep it aside. Chop the spinach, onions, tomatoes, garlic and green chilly. Heat oil in a kadai and add mustard seeds. When it splutters add the onion, garlic and green chilly and saute well. Add the chopped tomatoes and spinach and saute. Once cooked add the cooked dal, turmeric powder, salt and add little water and cook for 5 more minutes till it becomes little thick.

Serve it with rice!!!!
