Moru Curry (Buttermilk Curry)


Moru Curry

Ingredients:

1. Ashgourd - 1
2. Green chillies - 2
3. Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
4. Chilly powder - 1/2 tsp
5. Jeera - 1 tsp
6. Grated Coconut - 5 tbsps
7. Mustard - 1 tsp
8. Dry chillies - 2
9. Curry leaves - few
10. Oil and salt

How to Prepare:

Chop the ashgourd to small pieces. Boil the chopped ashgourd along with green chillies and turmeric powder. You can slit the green chillies into two halves. Let it cook for 10 minutes. In the mean time, in a mixer take the grated coconut, jeera, turmeric powder and chilly powder and add little water and grind it to a smooth paste. Add this paste to the ashgourd and cook well for another 5 minutes. For seasoning, heat oil add mustard seeds and drychillies and curry leaves (I didnt have stock this time so didnt use). Add this to the curry. Allow it to cool. Once cooled down add the curd and mix well. The curry is ready to serve with hot rice.

 Pictorial:

Boil the ashgourd, chillies with turmeric powder.           Add the ingreidients to grind to a smooth paste.

Add the coconut paste                                                 Cook for 10 minutes

Add oil and add mustard seeds                                    Add dry chillies and fry

Add the seasoning to the curry                                      When it cools, add the curd and mix well

Serve it with rice and papad!!!
