Thepla (Methi Paratha)

Thepla

Thepla is a famous gujarati dish. Its also called as methi paratha. My neighbour is a gujarati and she often makes it. Whenever she makes it, she never forgets to give me the dough. This paratha is very healthy and nutritious. Normally this paratha is apt for packing when you are travelling long distances as it will last for 4-5 days.

Ingredients:

1. Wheat Flour -  1 cup
2. Besan Flour - 1/2 cup
3. Methi leaves - 1 cup
4. Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
5. Chilly powder - 1.5 tsp
6. Coriander powder - 1.5 tsp
7. Jeera - 1.5 tsp
9. Ajwain (Omam) - 1.5 tsp
10. Salt, Water & Oil

How to Prepare:

Take a bowl and add wheat flour, besan flour, methi leaves, turmeric powder, chilly powder, coriander powder, jeera, ajwain and salt. Add Water and mix well and make a dough. Keep it for half an hour. Divide it to small balls and roll it with the roller pin. Heat a tawa and put the thepla and add oil. Cook on both sides till the brown black spots appear. Ajwain gives a nice aroma while the paratha is getting cooked. Serve it with pickle or yoghurt.
