Palak Chutney

Palak Chutney

Ingredients:

1. Palak - 2 bunches
2. Onion - 1
3. Tomato - 1
4. Urad dhal - 1 tbsp
5. Chana dhal - 1 tbsp
6. Dry Chillies - 3
7. Green Chillies - 2
8. Grated Coconut -  2 tbsps
9. Tamarind - a small piece
10. Asafoetida - 1 tsp
11. Oil and salt

How to prepare:

Wash and clean the palak leaves. Chop the onion and tomatoes to small pieces. Heat oil in a kadai and add the chana dhal followed by urad dhal. Add the dry chillies and onion and saute well. Add the chopped tomatoes and green chillies and saute well. Add asafoetida. Add the palak leaves. Add the grated coconut and the tamarind and salt and saute well. Cook for 5 more minutes and off it and let it cool down. Once cooled down, grind it to a smooth paste. Serve it with rotis, idlis and dosas. It goes very well with rice also as a side dish.
